The Season of Waiting: An Advent Blessing for Women Who Wait
On this second Sunday of Advent when the theme is waiting for the promised Messiah, I’d like to offer a blessing for each of the women who wait.
May her waiting be done in hope, dear Lord, not in fear, knowing that you are a good God who does all things WELL.
May her waiting be done in joy, Suffering Saviour, who for the joy set before You endured the agonies of the Cross.
May her waiting be done in peace, knowing that the great “I AM” who has come and who is yet to come, has promised her a peace that passes all understanding should she simply reach out and grasp firmly by faith what you have given, bathed in your own regal blood.
May her waiting be done in knowledge, knowledge of your Word, knowledge of your character and knowledge of your life. Keep her eyes fixed on truth and her steps will not falter.
May her waiting be done in patience, knowing that you are a God who does the right thing at the right time ALWAYS.
May her waiting be done in anticipation of glory, for you are the author of glory and you delight to transform sin-darkened worlds with light that demolishes darkness by the sheer power of your creative majesty.
And lastly, may her waiting be done in full assurance of your grace. Give her eyes to see your many blessings, a heart to rejoice in your multitudinous kindnesses, lips that freely and heartily speak your praise and arms and hands that hasten to do your bidding, no matter what the cost.
And we’ll give you ALL the praise and ALL the glory.
In Jesus’ blessed name we pray.
